The Job Market: Is a College Degree Worth Less?
This article talks about how more and more people are attending college and how this is in a sense decreasing the value of an education. The article discusses the growing unemployment rates among new graduates and how a college degree doesn't always guarantee you the job.
In the article, the point is made that a college degree isn't really worth anything anymore. Although I agree that a college degree isn't as valuable as it once was, it is in no way worthless. If you do not have a college degree, and are applying for a job, it is almost a guarantee that an individual with a college degree will get the position before you do. I do agree with the point that many students who are not fit for college could choose a different path that may be more beneficial for them. College is not for everyone, and for some people it may be better for them if they were to join the work force, or some sort of military branch.
Should More People Skip College?
This article discusses the necessity of a college degree and if it would be better for some students to not attend college.
This article makes the point that many jobs do not require a college degree, and that it might be beneficial for some students to not attend college and avoid the unnecessary debt. I agree with this point and believe that college is not for everyone and that some people may create a better future for themselves if they were to not attend college. College is very expensive, and puts you in a hole that is very hard to dig out of. So if one is given the chance to not go to college, avoid this debt, and still get a decent job, it may be a wise path to choose. The article also makes the points that employers prefer a college degree, and that studies show that those with a college degree make more money. It seems to be that the jobs that require a college degree, are the jobs that are paying more and offering more chances for promotions and advancement through company positions.

This article discusses the necessity of a college degree and some paths that students may take other than the one to college.
A point is made that many German students preferred to go into apprenticeships and that these students were in a sense more valuable than those with a college degree. I agree with this point in a sense as it seems that workplace experience is becoming evermore valuable. I believe that some employers would rather hire someone with experience and is known to get the job done. However I feel that this is something that may only apply to some careers. As some jobs may prefer experience, there are many jobs that require a previous knowledge that only a college degree can offer. I do believe that a college degree is not as important as it used to be, however I do not think it is wise to skip college. Even though going into an apprenticeship or joining the work force right out of high school is a wise step for many students, I also feel that a getting a college degree is something that most people should seek to obtain at some point in their life.
